The rich history of Club Liège

FC Liège is not a small club in the history of Belgian football. After all, there are 5 Belgian titles on the honors list of Club Liège. FC Liège became the very first champion of Belgium in 1896 and before the turn of the century the club won two more titles, in 1898 and 1899. Titles followed in 1952 and 1953.

In the mid-1990s, FC Liège went down financially, but a merger with Tilleur brought salvation to the club where Robert Waseige, among others, was trainer for years. The team is currently being coached by the Croatian Belgian Drazen Brncic, who once played for Milan on a blue Monday.
