Can you tell us about Meridianbet’s history?
Meridianbet is part of Golden Matrix Group (GMGI), a NASDAQ-listed company operating in 25 markets across six continents. Although we’ve been active in Belgian sports betting for seven years, we initially approached this market with caution. Last year, I was brought in as the only Belgian team member to lead our local expansion.
With our European headquarters based in Brussels and as a founding member of the European Organization for Gaming Law (EOGL), we are at the heart of regulatory discussions in the EU. This positioning reflects our strong commitment to compliance, especially in strictly regulated markets like Belgium.
One of my first major tasks was to secure our casino license, which is now nearing completion. With extensive experience in the industry, I understand exactly what Belgian players expect: a smooth registration process, instant deposits, and fast payouts. While our history in Belgium is still short, our global foundation supports very ambitious local goals.
What sets Meridianbet apart from other platforms?
We operate as a complete one-stop shop for both sports betting and iGaming. Our sportsbook includes all the key features available in the Belgian market: extensive boosts for major events, competitive odds, a powerful BetBuilder for custom tickets, and Early Payout options when specific match events occur, like the first goal.
In addition to standard features, we integrate AI-driven tools such as our bet recommender and casino recommender, which tailor suggestions to each player’s preferences and betting behaviour.
Which markets are you active in, and who are your main target groups?
As part of the Golden Matrix Group, we’re globally active across 25 markets. We focus on players who truly enjoy the entertainment value of gaming. Our priority is to deliver an engaging, seamless experience with full responsibility. It’s all about enjoyment – never excessive use.
What types of games or bets do you offer?
Instead of listing every single title — which would take pages — we offer a wide range of betting markets and competitions that match or exceed any Belgian competitor. Independent testing confirms that during peak times, we provide one of the most comprehensive selections. This depth will also extend to our upcoming casino launch, where we are partnering with all major dice game and dice slot providers to deliver Belgium’s largest possible portfolio.
Do you offer unique features or exclusive games?
Absolutely. Through our own Expanse Studios, we create exclusive iGaming content tailored to specific markets. The studio serves over 1,000 B2B clients and develops classic slots, crash games, social casino games, turn-based strategy games, and card games – all built within each market’s regulatory framework.
How do you select partnerships with software providers?
Our partnership strategy is unique because we operate from a position of full technological independence. We are among the 5% of global gaming operators who own their entire technology stack – every line of code and system component is ours. This is rare in an industry where most operators rely heavily on third-party platforms.
What kind of welcome boost do you offer?
We’ve observed a shift in the market towards enhanced odds and boosts for new customers. We’re developing our own series of welcome boosts, set to launch soon. This approach reflects our thoughtful yet competitive stance on promotions.
Do you offer a loyalty or VIP programme?
Under current Belgian law, traditional loyalty programmes for online gaming operators are prohibited. We closely monitor regulatory developments and ensure we never create unfair competition. If other operators introduce systems that comply with the law, we’re ready to implement similar programmes immediately.
How do you ensure transparency in promotions?
Clear terms and conditions are non-negotiable. When our support team receives frequent questions about a specific promotion, we act quickly to clarify the details on our website. Transparency isn’t just a good practice – it’s essential for earning player trust.
How do you guarantee user data and payment security?
We work exclusively with certified payment providers that implement advanced security protocols. Integration with ItsMe ensures smooth registration, and our highly secure server infrastructure protects player data. Our payment partners also ensure optimal transaction conditions.
What responsible gaming tools do you offer?
Meridianbet offers a wide range of self-limitation tools for players at risk of problematic gaming. Players can self-exclude for varying periods and set deposit limits. Our website includes direct links to specialist nonprofit organisations, and we maintain open communication with the Belgian Gaming Commission to prevent vulnerable players from accessing our services.
What do you do to optimise the user experience?
Website clarity and structure are top priorities. We maintain transparency and open communication — when users report issues, our support team escalates them directly to me for a personal resolution. Player feedback drives continuous improvement.
How is your customer support structured?
We maintain high standards through a team of experienced, multilingual support agents and direct oversight by management. We ensure consistent quality and act quickly when market-specific issues require local expertise. This ensures that Belgian players receive the dedicated attention this highly regulated market demands — whether it’s for simple inquiries or complex regulatory matters.
Do you have plans for new features or markets?
We are one of the most forward-thinking companies in the industry. Because we develop our software in-house, constant improvement is possible – we lead with innovation rather than follow competitors.
How do you see the future of online gaming?
The Belgian market is clearly shifting toward less traditional sports. Darts betting has exploded — six months ago, our traders had never heard of Luke Littler or Mike De Decker. Esports continue to gain ground, and we’re benefiting from that growth, with one of the most robust pre-match and in-play offerings in the sector.
In online gaming halls, more suppliers are entering the Belgian market, adapting their games into dice versions to comply with local rules. Just five years ago, there were only 250–300 games available – today we offer over 1,000.
Finally, what advice would you give to new players?
We’ve invested a lot of time in building what we believe is the perfect platform. We’re ready to demonstrate its value to new Belgian players. I encourage everyone to try it out and share their feedback – it’s key to our ongoing improvement.
We’ll continue to combine global expertise with local insight, strict compliance, and true innovation. As Belgium’s online gaming landscape evolves, our deliberate but ambitious strategy positions us as serious contenders in one of Europe’s most regulated environments.
